As I was not there at the deathbed, I have no way to verify this as Oscar Wilde's last words, but it is widely held to be true. And certainly in keeping with his life, his wit, and his attitude towards the seemingly frivolous. Thanks for the lovely compliment. Would that I could guarantee that at my last gasp, I would have the wit and presence of mind to offer up something equally light and memorable.
My short story "Shamlet" won the Crucible Fiction Competition. Other publication credits include Pindeldyboz, VerbSap, and Salem Monthly. I hold an MFA from Queens, and have taught creative writing at the UW Women's Center and at Richard Hugo House.~~~Email me at xlucas at yahoo dot com.

I am sure those weren't actually his last words! Are they yours? Very funny if so.
